LUCKNOW METRO WINS ICI (LUCKNOW) ULTRATECH AWARD, 2019 FOR OUTSTANDING CONCRETE STRUCTURE

Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has achieved another commendable feat by winning the prestigious Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) (Lucknow Ultratech award, 2019 for outstanding concrete structure in the category of Infrastructure Project. The award has been given by the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), a registered professional body dedicated to the cause of concrete construction, design, research & development in India. The Principal Secretary of PWD, Shri Nitin Ramesh Gokarn was the eminent Chief Guest for the occasion and gave away the awards to the winners of outstanding concrete structure.
The award was given to Lucknow Metro on 7th September, 2019 in Lucknow on the occasion of the ICI’s foundation day which is celebrated as the “Concrete Day” across the country. Mr Vineet Gautam, JGM (Quality) received this award on behalf of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation which has been presented for building top quality concrete structure for the entire North-South corridor (phase 1-A) from CCS Airport to Munshipulia.
The ICI committee studied the Lucknow Metro Project and infrastructure in terms of various measures taken to produce concrete, its monitoring and other methods adopted to control projects of concrete structures. The civil engineering accomplishments of LMRC like the 60m special steel span near Nishatganj flyover and the 177 meter balanced Cantilever bridge built over Gomti River was also appreciated and acknowledged by the committee. The award committee also took into consideration the civil construction work of the underground section from Hazratganj to Hussainganj and CCS Airport) including tunneling while shortlisting the award.
The innovative initiatives taken for environment conservation and sustenance like rain water harvesting of more than 2 crores litres of water, use of solar panels for generating solar energy, use of recycled water for cleaning of Metro trains by Automatic Washing Plant, installation of waste composting plant at the Metro Depot and use of LED lighting at the Metro stations and inside trains by LMRC were also considered by the award committee.
